Larry Bertlemann 16mm Shredding

He didn’t invent the shortboard; he just showed us how to ride it. No one had a greater influence on the way people surf — from the best in the world on down — than Larry Bertlemann.

Courtesy of theSURFnetwork, this episode of Sea Movies features 70's North Shore standout Larry Bertlemann. Known for his low, compact turns and explosive above the lip "Larry-als," He has been credited by the Dogtown crew as the single most influential person on their skating. When those guys were sinking into their boards on concrete curves, doing laybacks or looking to rise above the lip of their pool they were thinking of Larry. This clip provides a window into the future of surfing and skateboarding from that time period as he puts his "stinger" design shortboard through its paces.
